Hmmmm... considering the sales figures (and the KU pages read), "PotterHeads" shows one thing and one thing alone: writing with my mother is complete and total marketplace death.
I guess the Vincent Girls adventure ends here.
It would be nice to understand why, but in its first three days basically "PotterHeads" sold about 1/10 of what any other book of mine ever sold in the same period.
Maybe it's just the double credit, or maybe the cover featuring a bong instead of breasts, legs and whatnot (and yet, what about "The Idol"?), but the numbers speak for themselves.
Sorry mum, it's been fun. But now I'm back to working solo.

Nope I think we need another one, It could be any number of reasons, So I don't think you should be one and done, Write another one and see how that fairs first would be my advice
ReplyDeleteI might give it a try...
DeleteOh, you ungrateful creature!
DeleteOf course you will!!
I agree. It's highly unlikely that putting another name on the cover made the book unsuccessful. I would look at how you promote the books for clues to low sales numbers, if I were you. For example, if the only way you promote your books is through your blog, it's quite likely that the reason for unpopularity is that you haven't published anything for a while and lost the momentum you gained before with the high frequency of posts and dirty stories in many of them.
ReplyDeleteI also use other channels but yes, the loss of momentum is a possibility.
DeleteLosing all my stuff when my HD died was a trauma and a big setback.
A very realistic possibility.
(sighs) OK, I'll have to write more dirty stories.
At least it looks like somebody likes them, right?
Look at the bright side. With two of us writing, we will increase the output.
DeleteMy two cents, for whatever it is worth,
DeleteI feel that your writing hits its stride when you are detailing more explicit corruption (i.e. Body and Soul, the Cathouse series and the Idol series). While the writing was good, I found the storyline for "Potterheads" to be a little too short (would have loved to have seen the mother and daughter in 6 months to see what seed that corruption had wrought) and "Raven" too derivative of either iteration of "Join the Club".
I also believe that the gaps in blog entries due to whatever (mis)adventure you were embarking on does tend to break your stride and you lose those less committed followers of this blog. You aren't about to lose me.
That being said, when you are punching all of my buttons, you make me want to commit unspeakable atrocities upon my conservative, devoutly Catholic wife and revel in the hedonism that we'd both share.
Mama- you keep the faith. She is a true talent and needs your love and support, however it may manifest itself.
Not sure why the word "delete" inserted itself on the page. Ah, the wonders of modern technology!
DeleteOK, it is an editing function. I am an idiot.
DeleteThank you, Skullbox.
DeleteFeedback is always useful.
For instance, I was trying to distance myself from all-out, brutal corruption because, well, I thought it was becoming boring.
But now I think I'll go back to my world of drug-hyped whores, sexy witches and debauched nuns. With a vengeance.
See?
DeleteIt's none of my fault!
Thank you Skullbox, I'll keep the faith.
Not that I did in the past: now that I think of it, I was once a conservative, devoutly Catholic wife...
Anyway, I bet my next story I'll write on my own will sell more than yours.
ReplyDeleteTamara Weren't your Cathouse Stories really popular ?, Maybe you need to turn a few more people into Callgirls to get the fanbase interested again ... Feel free to corrupt as many Nuns and Vice Cops as you can until your popularity grows ;) .. Convent to Cathouse springs to mind
ReplyDeleteThank you, Another Fine.
DeleteAs I said above to Skullbox, I was afraid I was being boring.
But now I know where to go.
Also, I'll post more frequently.
And backup my stuff!
Totally see where you are coming from want to write new things and you should and you need to keep yourself engaged when it comes to your stories so you don't find it becoming repetitive, I think the problem and it's a good problem to have is that you are really good at corruption stories so that's what everyone wants.
