Festive season, babysitting and fairy tales

Is it just me, or the Christmas season starts earlier every eyar?
We don't have Thanksgiving here in Switzerland (nothing to give thanks for, in this country), and at the shop we've been swamped with Christmas decorations and gift wrapping and gadgets and stuff since the 7th of the month or thereabouts.

And we've started keeping the shop open late in the evenin. The trade is not so busy, but we do have a few late nightcustomers, and they appreciate the possibility of shopping after hours.

If this wasn't enough to keep me busy, I've been babysitting a friend's daughter.
My friend's mom, that usually takes care of the girl, was hospitalized (broken femur), and her daughter goes to see her after work, and she needed somebody to keep an eye on her four-years old.
Here comes Aunt Tamara!

And yeah, I know, I'm the last person you'd live your kids with.
I don't like kids much, either.
But real friends show up when you are in need, and I've been let down too often in the past. I will not let down my friends.
And little F.'s a sweet girl.
Self-centered and comandeeringas all small children, I guess, but nice.
She wants me to tell her fairy tales.
Oh, well...

Fact is, I discovered pretty soon that the fairy tales she wants to be told are those she saw on DVD in Disney movies.
Why don't you just watch the fucking movie, then, sweetie?
OK, not so harsh, but I asked her.
As a rsult, I had to watch hour upon hour of Disney movies.
AND then tell her the stories all over again.

So I started playing with little F.'s, making up sequels to the movies, and building rambling, demented stories.
In this sense, kids are incredible: did you know that Jasmine was Esmeralda's aunt, and that Cinderella's stepmother was the sister of the owner of the Aristocats?
Me neither.

The above is the reason why I did not write a lot recently, but also the reason why I got another idea for some fiction.
But also the reason why I put down a lot of notes for future stories, imagined a new series, and then started it with a story called Cinder, half of which I had posted here on the blog in 2016 before I lost all my work.
Some of you might remember.

Cinder, by the way, is out now, on Amazon.
It was published in a breeze.

THIS IS THE LINK

It should also be available as KU, or it will be soon.

I have a full series outlined...

Snow
Belle
Jaz
Esmé

and I'm already working on Belle.

And no, you naughty people, these are NOT the stories I am telling my little ward.

  1. What kind of auntie are you! You should teach your friend's daughter all the cool bad things!

By the way, Cinder's not on KU in the UK.

  2. Loved the story and looking forward to the other characters. Only problem was in the middle of the book it seems some pages were uploaded out of order.
